Welcome to the Spen House Camping and Caravanning Site website.
Spen House is a family run site, situated in the village of Minskip, 2 miles from Boroughbridge. Ideally suited for those wanting a peaceful, friendly break away from the stresses of modern life Spen House offers rural tranquility whilst remaining close to local ameneties - Morrisons supermarket is within 1 mile, and Boroughbridge town centre just 2 miles. For those who wish to venture further afield, Harrogate is 8 miles away, and the cosmopolitan cities of Leeds and York are a half hour drive away.
Our area of Yorkshire is quite unique, offering such diversities as Lightwater Valley Theme Park to the stately home of Newby Hall and the castle of Knaresborough - each 15 minutes drive away. Thirsk, home of the legendary vet James Herriot is 8 miles away. We can supply brochures and maps for you to explore the area, and we have a vast knowledge of local nature reserves, country walks, climbing, cycling and riding in the locality and beyond.
We are in close proximity to riding stables, leisure centres and bridleways and footpaths (often starting and ending close to a local pub!) to enable you to make the most of your holiday. Fishing is also available locally, and we have a tackle shop in Boroughbridge where Jim is happy to share his knowledge of the best areas to fish.Day licences and bait are available (tel 01423 324776)
We welcome pets, indeed we have our own off-lead exercise area. There is a play area for children, and also a pets corner with rabbits and guinea pigs, and our friendly chickens are infamous! We offer eight electric hook-up points and we have three further acres for those not requiring electric. Rallies are welcome - please book well in advance. We also have unlimited space for tents.
PLEASE NOTE this is primarily a quiet family site - we do not tolerate rowdy groups or open camp fires. Our aim is for you to have a peaceful, safe and enjoyable stay.
We would love to have you visit our site, and promise to try and make your stay as memorable as possible.NEW FROM JUNE 2009. Overnight accommodation now available - double room, TV, tea/coffee facilities. Please ask for details.
Booking is essential. A deposit is required to confirm a booking. We accept credit/debit card payments - please phone after 6pm. We are a certified location with the Camping and Caravanning Club.
please note: we have NO availability for caravans or motorhomes this Easter, May Day, Spring or August bank holidays, but plenty of tent pitches are available on those dates. We currently have NO EHU facilities for tents this year.

DIRECTIONS
A1 Northbound, junction 48, signposted Boroughbridge and Ripon. Go left off slip road onto A6055 signposted Knaresborough and Minskip. 100 yards across roundabout into Minskip village. 200 yards on right in centre of village, signpost SPEN HOUSE. Through gates to rear - site straight ahead in first paddock.
A1 Southbound, junction 48 Boroughbridge and Ripon. Off slip road, take A6055 sign Knaresborough and Minskip. Over two roundabouts into village. 250 yards off motorway. Site 200 yards on right in centre of village, signpost SPEN HOUSE
